Frequently asked questions.
What is therapy like?
Therapy differs for each individual, but generally you can expect to discuss whatever may be on your mind. Maybe you’re struggling with a relationship in your life, recovering from a traumatic experience, or wanting to build insight into your mental health. Whatever might be on your mind, we are here to listen to you speak openly, help you develop skills to improve your mental health and offer empathetic feedback and reflections. Appointments are typically once a week or every other week for 45-minutes but can be flexible based on your needs.
If you are curious and would like to learn more, please reach out to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.
What is your cancellation policy?
When you schedule an appointment with us, we reserve that time just for you. We ask that you reserve that time in your schedule as well. If you miss, cancel or change your appointment time with less than 24 hours’ notice you will be charged the full amount of the session fee ($160). By giving last minute notice or no notice at all, you prevent someone else from obtaining services in your cancelled time slot.
Do you accept insurance?
Our services are private pay only and we do not interface with insurance companies so that we can dedicate 100% of our time to our clients. As a private-pay practice we are able to evaluate and treat clients in the way that is most appropriate for each individual. However, upon your request, I will supply you with a receipt of payment for services (called a superbill), which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
We cannot guarantee that services will be covered by your insurance or that a percentage of the cost will be reimbursed to you, as this varies from plan to plan. For more information about reimbursement rates, it is recommended that you directly contact your insurance provider. You can specifically ask your insurance company about reimbursement rate for the following CPT codes: 90791 (60 minute initial evaluation) and 90834 (45 minute therapy sessions) as those are the codes used most frequently in our practice.
Do you see clients in person?
Currently we are only seeing clients via Telehealth. We hope to have in-person availability in the near future.
Is Telehealth effective?
Yes, Telehealth is an effective and convenient way to facilitate and receive therapeutic services. Many people are able to make the same therapeutic gains via Telehealth as they would in-person.
What is the best way to contact you?
The best way to reach is via email. We are often not immediately available by telephone and do not answer the phone when we are meeting with clients, outside of business hours, or otherwise unavailable. At these times, you may leave a message on our confidential work voicemail and your call will be returned as soon as possible, but it may take 1-3 business days. If, for any number of unseen reasons, you do not hear from your clinician or we are unable to reach you, and you feel you cannot wait for a return call or are unable to keep yourself safe, 1) go to your local hospital Emergency Room, or 2) call 911 and ask to speak to the mental health worker on call.
